It is hard to imagine the instant impact that the death of Elvis had.  Reporters from around the world flooded into Memphis.  Tens of thousands of mourners swarmed into the city when it was announced that Elvis Presley had died.  Hotels were immediately filled.  People who couldn't find rooms slept in their cars.  Below you will see some of the Commercial Appeal and Memphis Press-Scimitar front pages from that week.  The Special/Final Editions were compiled from the articles and photos that were published August 17-21, 1977.
